STF postcard no 22 -FALKENBERG, THE OLD BRIDGE
The old bridge is calld “Tullbron”, the Toll Bridge, and was completed 1761.
It’s still there today, impressive and beautiful. It has been threated, but remains, resonable untouched.
Through the bridges arches on the STF-postcard you can see the first railway bridge over Ätran. Today only the bridgeheads remains, on both sides of the river.
A lot has been written about the Toll Bridge. Fascinating stories. Not at least August Rex diary, which one he wrote as builder of the Toll Bridge during the second half of the 1700s. You can read this book thanks to, among others, my teacher in religion, Anna Skanze, niece to Brewery AB Falken’s founder.
”The Toll Bridge for all times” tells about the later recanditions etc. Please read!
