Nannys travel all around the world 1938
Nanny Mårtensson …
… or Aunt Nanny as I often heard her being called, was the aunt of my father and his siblings.
Nanny was born in a little farm called Mellangården in the parish of Abild in the village of Humselynga. According to what I’ve been told her dream was to become a teacher.
Her father Mårten would not want to hear about it. I don’t know if her fathers averse to this were the triggering factor for her to go to America. She had an aunt over there already.
Nanny came to live an adventurous life. She lived among the Eskimos of the north coast of Alaska, as a nurse at the Belgian front with the American soldiers during world war one and she also travelled around the world.
To the left you will find three booklets telling a little about her life. Just click on the pictures for a closer look.
